Finding the perfect Copper Basin home for you and your family, and qualifying for a suitable mortgage loan doesn’t mean your work is done just yet.

As you’re waiting for your home to be completed or for closing date to come you should be preparing your family for the big move. Because in addition to the excitement of doing your walk-throughs and inspections as your home nears completion you’ll have other things to do as you prepare to move.

Things you can do before closing on your new home:

• Plan ahead for the movers or truck rental, and packing.
• Look into getting any utilities like electric, phone, and cable etc. turned on.
• Go to the post office and ask for a change of address kit so your mail can be forwarded.
• If you’ve got school-age kids contact the local schools about transferring students.
• Make sure your new home will be pet ready with fencing and gates if needed before move in.

It’s very easy to let these things get pushed to the back burner as you get closer to closing on your new home, but planning ahead and making the arrangements early can make a move go smoothly.
